3rd Macbook Air does not sit flat on the table and has lines.

Supervisor called and said it may be the way the machine is meant to be. I said no 'cos the 2nd one sat on the table OK!!

    This is ridiculous.

He offered to give me a refund, all I wanted was a macbook air without lines that sat on the table ok!!!!

    So disappointed in Apple

From your username I assume you're residing in the UK. UK MBA's are notorious (or at least if you go by this forum) for being affected by the lines issue. Keep replacing them, don't get discouraged if the MBA is what you really want. For the money you're paying your machine should at least initially work and look as it is intended to.

I've gotten two in 9 days with perfect screens at the Regent Street store.

The first had a bad bearing in the fan and the machine stopped getting power from the power supply, but the screens on both have been absolutely perfect. I checked the 2nd one today before taking it home.

Go swap it and have them boot up the replacement. The folks at Apple tend to be very helpful. It's a very well run chain of stores.

In my experience the Intelligent : Ignorant ratio of the people working at the apple stores is about 50 : 50.

You've been to better stores than I have. Good luck to the OP - I would stand your ground, while it's within the two week return period you're on stronger ground. But I have to say I've only ever seen one MBA rev B in the UK with no lines. It was mine. Sadly I had the screen replaced, and the new one had lines. But I strongly suspect, if the Manchester Arndale store is anything to go by, that they will eventually say that the issue doesn't exist at all, and they're all like that. That's what they said re wobbly hinges - it's 'designed' that way, apparently.

    Hey NetDog,

That is promising! Can you tell me which screen model yours is and also does it sit flat on the desk?

It is a shame that the airs all seem so different! This one has a lovely keyboard and I notice the caps lock key responds to every press unlike the last one they sent me!!

    Best

I say just keep exchanging it until you get a good model that doesn't disappoint you. You've spent a lot of money on it, and shouldn't expect something thats amazing, then get sent a crappy product. If you replace it again, I think you should ask for an upgrade for all the trouble you've had =D

I can confirm that the Swiss stores are not at this level. But, to be honest when I listen to the question being asked maybe they already exceed par.

    lines no lines, etc.
In retrospect the MBA has been fantastic mainly because I now take a laptop around when I previously would not. This is like a 90's style productivity enhancement.
On the other hand, if you can live with windoze or linux, then there are much cheaper and better options than the MBA.

Maybe 50:50 if you include the nerds in the store buying stuff on the intelligent side...
