Delivery of the new iPhone this year if you get the new Max wont be until mid November to early December.

There's many of us who got the upgrade program in September or October, with the big marketing pitch that we get a new phone every year.

Due to the delays though, we now:

1. will end up paying an extra $110 or $165 for the additional months of waiting
2. next year assuming apple releases in sept/oct, we will have to wait another 2-3 months to get the phone

I am sure if I read the legal writing of the contract we signed this is probably within the realm of acceptable. However, as a consumer it also really annoys me. Whoever is in the Apple Upgrade Program is probably a big fan or power user of iPhone, so being ignored by Apple and treated like this doesn't sit right with me.

This has happened before with the iPhone X, which released in November. In that case they charged us around ~$50 for the first month instead of around ~110.

Edit: I'm lightheartedly poking fun. I get the concern and hopefully they'll make it right with their loyal customers.

Or don't sign up for the program till January then every 12 months you can upgrade without delay and not have to worry if the new phone comes out September or November. Problem solved!

You didn't sign the contract to finance the phone with Apple you signed it with Citizen so Apple can't fix anything.

Apparently Apple has smoothed this problem over in the past so they certainly can do it again if they choose to.

The IUP is a lease with no guarantee that a new iPhone model will be available 365 days after the release of the previous model. You're making payments every month for 24 months regardless of what phone is available.

Could you explain how they have smoothed it over in the past? Did they do something for X purchasers?

It is sort of a double whammy, isn't it? I was talking to my fiancé about this last night. You get less than your phone is worth this year (because you've paid more into it and the 'trade-in' value of the loan balance they clear is smaller) and then for next year's phones you haven't had your current phone for 12 months and need to pay extra to upgrade. I will likely be leaving iUP because of this, and because it forces AppleCare that I have never once used.

Whoops, missed that. Thank you! Hopefully something similar occurs this time around.

It's really confusing, how people don't understand how this program works. You're not paying extra for your phone. You signed up for a 24 month payment program with an option to trade it in for a new iPhone when it comes out. So now that 12 months will get extended when you get the new phone. You're not paying extra for it.

We bought out when this happened with X. We are happier trading in and buying outright. And, if you have the will power to stay one version behind, you can save even more. I don’t have that power. ?
