The phone's been out for 9 months now, but I still can't seem to get a clear yes or no answer from Google, just a lot of pre-release speculation from last September...
 
Lightning carries USB; I believe he's referring to the higher transmission speeds of USB 3.0 as supported by both 12.9" iPad Pros and the 10.5" iPad Pro, and possibly the Power Delivery standard which came with USB-C (also supported by these iPad Pros).

The answer is no, iPhone 7 does not support these things.
