I just got back onto the jailbreak scene. So I just wanted to confirm that you can jailbreak IOS 5 on iPhone 4s, BUT there is no way to unlock it. So gevey sim will not work. Also can anyone confirm that SOMEONE is working on it? I just want to know if there is progress. There are so many reports its hard to get out whats true.

I know the Dev Team doesn't give any ETAs but has there been any speculation on the date, or has there been sign of progress?

At the iPhone hacks section.

Nothing on Unlock.
On the JB they are working on it and there has been some progress but noone knows when for the 4S.
If you want an unlocked 4S sell it and get a factory unlocked version.
They are available in every country including the US.

i doubt you will ever see another unlock. seeing as most major carrier has the iphone...the hackers are just concentrating on the jb. which i think is going to take awhile.

It seems like an unlock for the iPhone 4s costs about $100...

It looks like you can get a 16GB iPhone 4s from your carrier, sell it for $550-$600, (based on recent eBay sales) then buy an unlocked phone from Apple for $650. Problem solved.

Just getting 'back onto the jailbreak scene' implies you were once 'on' it. if so, you should have known the answers to all your questions. It's not the 'many reports' that's confusing, it's the repetitive questions.

Thanks. . . This is a question I DON'T know about and neither have delved into. But I've seen them sell for 800-1000. Do these actually sell? What would be the best price you would think to sell for. Its brand new too.

The best sources for determining what the current market price is eBay and craigslist.

There won't be a software unlock for new devices or base bands. The base bands are pretty secure now, and with legally unlocked phones and GeveySim being sold, the needs isn't there as much.

The jailbreak will be here soon I think, but to avoid annoying questions of release dates, the devs rather devote time to actually creating the jailbreak rather than posting about it's progress.

I'm pretty sure Gevey comes out with a solution after the UNTETHERED jailbreak comes out, correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't understand...if you are so desperate for an answer and ultimately a solution to your unlock woes, why not buy an unlocked phone?? It solves all the problems!!!
