I lost my glasses about a month ago.

Then I proceeded to find the absolutely dorkiest glasses I could find. Nice, thick black frames. At the same time, I made sure that they did look trendy, and it's more of picking whether or not I want to wear them because I also have contacts.

But yet, glasses can be fashionable.

You lucky you have the option ... i wore my contacts for a LONG time ... but sandpaper eyes are not fun which is why i'm thinking of trying glasses.

i have bad vision so nothing is not an option.

i've tried so many different solutions etc... they don't make it much better.

Why are you not able to take in contacts? I know that some people have problems because of low oxygen - if that's the case, you might want to try some of the new silicon hydrogel contacts. They're meant for 2-week to 4-week wear (without removal), but they also help people who are more contact-sensitive, as they let something like 6x more oxygen through.

Such a good idea.

My eye doc says I'm better with glasses. I'm not happy :(

And how bad is your vision ... I am fine close up but everything is blurry a couple of metres away :(

i just read an archived thread here on glasses.

i've also read the drunk thread :)

but yea

been having major contacts problems - spend a lot of time on the computer - eye doc warned i needed to wear glasses more (but vanity meant i never got them ...)

so now i have sandpaper painful eyes no matter what solution i use ... negative 3.5 and 3.75 contacts vision.

do i need to wear glasses full time and if so, any hints on adjustment to this/frames/etc?
:) very poo about this!!!!

### it's quite easy to have glasses and your vanity too! Just pick up a set of frames by Chrome Hearts or Alain Mikli...you'll be stylin'.

In the end, I went for glasses that you can hardly see. :p They're totally rimless and so are very light and comfortable. I paid about £250 for them, but that included getting anti-reflective coating on the lenses (means people can see your eyes better) and thinner lenses as I too am very short-sighted (3 point something, from what I remember), so the thinner I can get them the better.

Here's a photo of them (taken from the MR Photo Directory). I look a bit strange in it, but you get the idea. They're so unobtrusive that I think they'd suit anyone.

Alright, don't normally put photos of myself in a forum but what the hell.

Note, the presence of puppies is not intentional, it's just the only photo I have of myself where I'm not pulling a face.

I've got the same ones, though I hardly ever wear them. Silhouette, aren't they? You got a bloody good deal at £250.

<Takes off glasses and looks on the arms>

They're called "Fila Titanium", so maybe not exactly the same thing, assuming Silhouette's a brand.

It was funny, because £250 was stretching the budget a bit, but the cheaper rimless ones were all strange shapes. You wouldn't think that the tiny bit of frame that's visible and the shape of an almost invisible lens would make a difference, but it did. :p

i also like the black frame thing.
ooooh sooo much to decide on!

That's similar to the ones I currently wear, though I used to have the thin metal frame type. If i could afford it I'd probably have 4 or 5 different pairs. Come to think of it, I'm due for a new pair real soon.

That's Ollie on the left and Ralphie on the right. They're about twice the size now but have stopped growing so they're still very small and cheeky. Don't get to see them enough, they live at my parents' place.

ollie really doesn't look impressed ...

He's just tired - he's only 8 weeks old in that photo, maybe 7 weeks.

He's the sneaky, cheeky one. Ralphie is hyperactive and thinks he's a cat.

Thanks, at least someone appreciates them. When I first got them 5 years ago, my family and coworkers were making Buddy Holly and Librarian jokes the whole day.
