I just thought I would start a thread for people like me who are so glad they bought a MacBook Pro before now.

I'm shocked that Apple has removed premium class niceties like the MagSafe power port and the glowing Apple logo, the price has gone up drastically and not only that but you will have to buy a couple of USB adapters and an SD card reader for all your current peripherals.

I really like the touch bar, I think its a great idea but I think the cons out-weigh the pros.

I love my Mid 2014 15" MacBook Pro, and I'm so glad I didn't wait.

Same here. I was lucky to find a barely used the current model 2015 top of the line MacbookPro 15 with the Radeon R9 M370X for $1500 INCLUDING 3 years of Apple Care. The new 2016 top of the line released today is twice that much. I'm very pleased indeed!

I'm also interested to see the performance increase of the Radeon Pro 450 and Radeon Pro 455 over the previous Radeon R9 M370X. The 130% increase in performance Apple is saying is for the Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory upgraded video card option.

Agree with you, glad I bought my early 2015 rMBP last month.

You guys do know you can still buy the 2015 model .....
Everyone here saying how glad they are they picked one before the reveal make it sound people cant buy those machines anymore.
Anyone who thinks last gen machines were better could still get them. So really defeats the purpose of this post..

And seriously, the glowing logo is one of your reasons on why you prefer previous laptops ? wow

What is with all these ridiculous threads. Yeah we get it you need a better job and can't afford the new one. Yes we are all glad and really care that you bought one in 2014. I bought one on release date in 2012. I just gave myself a pat on the back.

You can still buy the 2015 brand new and you can still buy refurbished 2015s to save even more money.

The glowing logo?? That thing is hideous...so glad my 12"rMB doesn't have it and so glad my incoming 2016 rMBP won't have it either.

The only point I will concede is the loss of magsafe...yes magsafe was an amazing invention...oh wait...there are already solutions....

Apple glow logo.. hideous? I have a 12" rMB and 13" rMBP 2013 and I love the glow,

and that magsafe alternative is junk, doesn't stay in and cord is too heavy to pull it out easily,
( I have it )

I don't quite understand the glowing Apple logo. It's on the opposite side of the screen -- I can't see it at all when using the computer, and it doesn't glow when it's off. Does it illuminate in clamshell?

sometimes getting up, and coming back to the laptop, you can see it.

sometimes I just give it a 180 spin and stare at the glow at a crowded coffee shop, different people have different uses.

..kidding about that last bit, but sometimes getting up to get a napkin or something? and coming back to your table?

I mean the thing glows, you see peoples' products glow. of course you don't see it in regular use, but one could argue the same about the thing when its closed not having that plastic antenna behind the hinge/part of hinge. In regular use, you don't see that.

it just looks nicer than a scratch and fingerprint prone mirror-like insert, and more premium and stand out-ish than any old laptop

all Imo of course,

Advertising.

So the junkies who wander into a Starbucks know which laptop to steal.

I personally even think a white-ish unlit apple logo in closed mode is preferable to the mirror

ymmv

Deal breakingly so? Obviously not, I own the 12" haha. proof is in the pudding

but it represents a sad vision of the future,

False logic... all the laptops in Starbucks are MacBooks ;)

I once walked in with a Lenovo T450S... you'd have thought Jack the Ripper sat down and sharpened his blades by the looks on their faces!
