UE is definitely not a great experience on a Mac but an Apple Silicon build is on the way (UE 5.1): https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/ue5-for-m1-apple-silicon/259580/110

I have an Intel iMac w/ a 5700XT and a Mac Studio w/ M1 Ultra and when I tested it out the Ultra compiled shaders faster than the Intel and felt pretty snappy despite running under Rosetta. Also it was silent. A Native version of UE5 should run 2-3x faster.

Yes PC's are best for games/UE etc. etc. but I use Macs for a reason and I'm not doing anything fancy.

I believe the Unreal Engine 5 for Mac doesn't support all new features from UE5, I don't know if that's changed or will change with the release of Metal 3. If you plan to develop games for Apple Devices then go for it, otherwise a PC build will probably be a better choice for UE5 for the foreseeable future.
