It won't have less than 512mb, and it probably won't have more. Apple may surprise us and put in 768mb or 1GB, but we'll just have to wait until the iPod is released to know for sure.

You would think 1GB. The 4G Touch barely runs with 256. Now increase the screen size and expect this to run for two years it needs 1GB.

The other devices with an A5 chip (original iPad 2, the iPhone 4S, and tweaked $399 iPad 2) all have 512mb.

I'd gamble on 512 as well. For the price (Apple) price point, I would expect them to somewhat skimp on RAM to cut costs and have average performance.

All signs point to 512 MB. They already have the A5 optimized for that amount of RAM. It's easier on the manufacturing process as well to leave it at 512 MB. So that's what it'll be. No more, no less.

If it does not have 512 mb or more ram I will get a iPhone 5 with Sprint or a iPad mini. The current touch sucks in performance not the chip the A4 is a good processor but the sucky low amount of ram.

I agree. There is no reason to put 1Gig ram in it like the iPad3 has and there is no reason to chop it down like they did on the AppleTV so that leaves 512 meg as the best choice. you can bet on it.
