Went for the 128gb one. Music and movies can be stored on external drives, and for the price difference between 128 and 256, you could buy externals with like 3tb

Air is for productivity while being extremely portable. Why do you want all of your music/games/movies on there?

I wonder the same thing. I have a desktop for all my music/games/movies.

I chose 64GB for the air because at the time i thought it would be enough on the go, but i wish i would have went with the 128. I have only been in college 3 weeks and the drive is filling up fast.

Got the 128 GB one.The extra price difference, ~$300, for another 128 GB didn't seem worth it. I know I can buy a 1 TB portable HD for about one-third of that price.

In addition, like someone else mentioned, I may consider an OWC SSD upgrade down the line - something bigger as well as much faster in performance.

My 2009 and 2010 MBAs were both 128GB. I never needed more than about 1/2 of that because I have the methodology of keeping 100% of all original data on my 2TB iMac, and 0% original data on the MBA. Everything that I have on the MBA is synced via dropbox, mobile me, IMAP email, etc.

However... for my 2011 MBA, I did get the 256GB version. I did so because of iCloud, and for the first time, I will probably let my media collection sync to the MBA. My media collection is just over 100GB, which would not have been possible on the 128GB model.

I do not know how important it will be to have my media on the MBA, but I felt it was worth the experiment of having it available with me during travel.

I have 80GB of music and I like to have it on the SSD (backed up to external). I don't want it to be on my external as then I'll have to backup my backup drive which gets increasingly complicated!

So I've gone for the 256GB SSD. I'm currently at 100GB free.

I never like running out of storage space and this has given me some breathing room. The i7 was less important as the performance boost is neglible - particularly as the temperatures see it throttled back quickly; the tiny upgrade in performance will make little/no difference in 2-3 years time.

When I got the 11-inch 2010 MBA I got the 128GB because it was only going to be my secondary MacBook to my 2007 MBP. When the 2011 came out, I decided to retire my MBP and got the 13-inch 256GB because it was going to be my primary MacBook. I tend to store a lot of photos on it for the year, and my current iPhoto Library is almost 60GB for this year so far. The previous years are off-loaded to a 2TB external drive. I did not want the hassle of plugging in a portable external drive every time I want to look at my photos. I also run Parallels, and the Windows XP VM is currently at 13GB.

128gb as I'm a really light user.

After downloading some apps and programmes I use along with iTunes I still have 102gb free space.

I also use a seagate 500mb external drive for time machine.

I was gonna go for the 64gb ssd drive but the ones in the Uk came out if the box with 2gb ram and I wanted 4gb minimum and didn't want to have to order from apple to have the 4gb ram on a 64gb ssd.

I also thought the extra would allow Lion some breathing room !

Got the 11" model that has 4GB ram 128 GB SSD stock.
Did this because my use of Logic Pro required 4GB of ram, but since this computer is a bit of a luxury purchase since I already had a work MBP, I'm forcing myself to do with as little as possible. With my iTunes library loaded, Logic installed with only one Jam Pack instrument set, and a few other random applications and documents, I'm already down to 24GB free!
iTunes library alone accounts for 52GB.
As I said, I'm forcing myself to make do with less, so I'll trim some fat whenever possible and add as little as possible over the next few years.
Perhaps in 2012 256GB will be less of a premium cost upgrade, and I can sell this 2011 model to upgrade.

I went with 128GB. I would have gone with only 64, however, the Apple Store didn't have any 64GB SSD's with 4GB's of RAM in stock. I wasn't going to do the 2GB's of RAM, it's not enough.

I only use around 25 GB's on the Air, while my iMac carries all my iTunes. And my media (Movies / TV Shows) is carried on 1TB and 1.5TB My Books connected to Airport Extreme.

52gb of music !

You can't be able to listen to that type of storage.
Maybe a nice big portable external harddrive would free up some if your MBA harddrive !

I am on the fence, will either get the 256GB or 128GB + 360GB OWC Aura Pro upgrade. I am going to use the Air as my main computer for web development and Photoshop/Lightroom work (with 30" ACD) so I am going to need lots of local storage.

One of the reasons to upgrade is the slowness of Lightroom in my current setup, I want to get rid of wait times between previews. Because of this, I will keep lots of pictures on the computer's SSD at any given time.

iTunes doesn't make it easy to split your library. Good thing the cloud is coming we'll be able to store at least some of our music there.

Yeah, but I don't like having the itunes library on an external.
Plus, since I'm making the Air my primary personal machine, it gets all of it.
I should have said that the itunes FOLDER was 52GB. The music part is only 40GB.
I've got apps, podcasts, and a few movies. I'll probably move the movies to the external, but that's only going to free up 3-4GB tops.

Went for the 128GB - it gives me enough space at least to start with without being much more expensive than the basic 64GB.

With external storage getting cheaper by the week I can carry my iTunes music on a 16GB USB drive with space to spare if I ever need to. I was running out of space on my old (non-apple) laptop & I started deleting music (uploaded CDs I own anyway so no big deal) and TV content (that was painful as TV seasons as a rule are not cheap).

Amazingly, over the last month or two I've been able to see and re-download all the deleted content ever bought from iTunes, even stuff I'd forgotten about :) Must be an iCloud phase-in.

I'm not entirely clear how iCloud will work and generally I'd rather own/download than rent/stream content but I can live with keeping content in the cloud (unless apple puts a cap on the number of downloads per item).

I also have an external hard drive, just in case :D

Just answering my own question: I ended up going with a 180GB from OWC. My essential iTunes library is about 100GB, although I can cut that back by a little if needed. And all my other applications aren't that much. And I figured I will be making use of the cloud.
