Well, good then. :D

Seriously though, I don't think the comments really were harsh in this thread. But I completely agree with you, people should just choose whatever they feel suits them best and be done with it. Both systems have their pros and cons.

I was preemptive striking in general because I know from experience how these threads end up going ;) :)

If you don't mind me piggy-backing onto this thread...

I already have a 360 (and a Wii gathering dust), and am considering buying a PS3. Is it worth it for the PS3 exclusives alone? I actually bought the original Xbox just for Halo and would have been quite happy if no other good game came out; but the PS3 is a bit pricier now.

If I buy a PS3 soon here (Ireland), will the console have PS2 backwards compatability? I'd heard that's being phased out, but don't know the details. I got rid of my PS2 to make room for the other consoles, so backwards compatability would be a big plus. How do those games look on the PS3? (on a 37" 720p LCD, if that's relevant).

The 60GB version has partial hardware and software emulation for PS2 games, but is not 100% backwards compatible.

PS2 titles look grand on it, better than on the PS2 itself as you have upscaling options.

But these have been phased out. You may be able to pick one up cheap at gamestop for €349 (saw them that price in Tralee, so should be similar in Cork I'd say) pre-owned.

The current €399 model for the 40GB has NO backwards compatibility at all.

So if backwards compatibility is a must, definitely check out getting a pre-owned 60GB. I've seen them advertised on adverts.ie too.

The short answer is no! (The PS3 is the reason for the delay of GTA IV.)

What? Wasn't the 360 the cause of the delay? I remember reading about how the lack of a HD in the 360 was problem.
It seems no one really knows. 360 fans say it's the PS3 version causing delays, and the PS3 fans say it's the 360 version causing delays. Probably both versions are causing the delay. ;) Although, it really doesn't matter to me since I won't be getting this game.

Any multiplayer game will always be better on the 360 though.
Always? You keep on thinking that... I've had no problems with multiplayer on the PS3. Always have plenty of people to play against. And I pay $50 a year. Whoops. Accidently typed a 5. ;)

I dont own a PS3 but I have played on them. One difference I noticed (which may or may not be big) is that the 360 controller is better to me. Both functionally and ergonomically.

Opinions vary, I hate the 360 controller both ergonomically and especially functionally. I initially thought the sixaxis controller was too light, with the DS3 it seems to solve that since the rumble adds some much needed weight to the controller. ergonomically the PS controller fit my hands perfectly, I love having the analog nubs where they are on the PS controller, its a more natural position. I never could get used to the wonky analog layout of the 360 controller.

It's all opinion based, take it for what it is.

I bought the 40GB as well (I've had mine for 3 months now). In the three months I've used it more then any other console I've owned. Have 10 games and 26 Blu-Ray movies thus far. I've put most of my time into Rock Band which is an amazing game.

I really hate the layout of the PS Store though, it's horrible. Also demo's seem to take forever to download though (I can download a file about the same size on my PC faster then the PS3). But w.e., I don't download that many demos anyways. It's a great console but they still need to fix a few things, but there just minor ones.
