What was wrong with kar ta achoo? Meh, max_hyundai's pretty good too. It's the name I want to lick. :)

Seven hours and someone finally posts about how the car's name resembles that of a certain forum-goer.

Good show! :p

I can now finish peeling off the rest of the "max"
but it's grown on me.
Dagnabbit!

Dislike the fish, but like the car and love the name. Congrats on the car, you'll love it.:)

I've named all my cars - I really believe it makes a difference if you bond with your car. As laughable as it sounds, things have happened with my cars that reinforce this belief.

car names (over the years - first two cars weren't named)

1986 Izuzu iMark - "Tojo"
1985 Volks Jetta - "Maximillian" (Max for short)
1980 Volvo 244 - "Lars"
1976 Volvo 245 - "Thor"
1997 Saab 9000T - "Sven"

"Tojo" managed to repair it's own transmission and drive around without a clutch for several days (broke clutch cable). <--those are seperate incidents.

"Max" managed to last to 265K miles, with oil changes every 40K(!), and drove the last 75K with a smashed front-end and a radiator that looked like a "V". I eventually donated it to a friend for an art project, and it just sat around for over a year. When I came back to town, I tried to start it for a laugh, and it started immediately.

"Lars" managed to drive 2500 miles in two days, with over 200K. Also managed to make it 200 miles with a leaking radiator and down-a-cylinder (to only 3), so I could make a New Years Party. Was retired to city-only car after that.

"Thor" and "Sven" have always been well-behaved and w/o incident (knocks wood).

I have only had 2 cars named them both.

1st car 1992 Sentra SE-R -Samantha
current car (2nd car) 2004 Sentra SE-R Spec V --- Urd

Both names fit each car and their respecive personallities

I'm waiting for someone with a knife or long fingernails to pry it off. It happened to a friend of mine once. :(

I've got a screwdriver and a putty knife. I'm on the way... :D

Not if you want to keep that sweet "I'd rather be driving a Mac" bumpersticker and want those MASH DVDs back..

:D

Ooo, On topic: What's Tahoe's name?

Ah, nicely done, KT, but I think you should have rubbed off all but the "arm" in "carmax" and then scratched off part of the "m" to make it an "n". Driving around with "arn" on your car is a sure way to gain instant respect amongst those in the know.

More respect from Houston-Area MacRumorers... does this mean peterparker will let me keep those DVDs out of respect?:p

Splendid idea!

Even trade for removing the Darwin fish? :) No way!

First car was a beige 1979 Toyota Corolla named The Batmobile. Died in a tragic water pump accident.

Second car was a '67 Beetle affectionately called "The Deathtrap". It got its name when I had to slam the brakes one day and the whole car twisted to the side, thus marking my realization that only the left front brake was actually working.

Third car (and my favorite) was a 1990 Toyota Tercel named Julie Ann. That car was invincible. I drove it through waist-high water and up the sides of mountains. Murdered in a road-rage incident.

Fourth car was a 1993 Chevy Lumina, the YF-19. Great roadtrip car. One of my friends drove it and said it was like driving a lay-z-boy. Died of natural causes.

Fifth car is a 2004 Mazda 3 hatch named Joan Rivers. Why Joan Rivers? Becuase she's been in three accidents (not my fault!) and had so much work done to her it only seemed appropriate.

We've had 3 cars that were named...

1994 Mercury Topaz-Mario
1994 Chevrolet 1500-Ziggy
1997 Nissan Altima-Kermit

It's so crazy and awesome to name stuff!

I'm seeing some car names here that shouldn't be. Cars should have girls names unless it's a Bentley.

Yeah, cars should have girls names if the car's owner is male.

On that note, I'm gonna name my car Avery. I like it because it's of it's gender neutrality......... kind of like me.
