Hope it goes well for you Sam.
I certainly don't want to start a country vs country war/chat, but this is one of the biggest reasons why I love Canada - we don't have this crap of people suing people left right and centre for the dumbest reasons.
I applaud you Sam for saying you could never sue for the wrong reasons. I would be the same way.
if an accident happens here, we try to sort it out ourselves or then go to the insurance companies and let them deal with it.
now, before folks think i'm saying us Canucks are better than Americans - that isn't the case - it's the system of law that is the difference. we're just not set up to sue that easily b/c our lawyers want their payment up front, rather than wait to take a chunk of the final settlement. people just don't want to pay or if it were different, you'd see idiots sue.
I mean, hey, i thought of suing my city last year (specifically parks and recreation department) b/c i sprained my ankle (badly) playing football on a field that was poorly taken care of - divots, clumps of grass...completely unacceptable to play on, but we had no choice (i guess, except to not play).
My doc was on a rant how the local environmentalists don't want to spray chemicals on the fields, yet the fields don't get the proper care and he'd seen a ton of knee and ankle injuries (he also works in an emerg dept at one of the hospitals). anyhoo, i'm severely digressing here...
keep us posted Sam. Hope it all works out for you.
Cheers,
Keebler
