So I installed my SSD, but... (Optibay)

If your apps are still on the HD and not the SSD, just copy them over. That's the joy of Apple's App packaging system.

Not entirely sure, but I think Lion has a solution for this exact issue.
 
So when I copy My applications to the ssd via carbon copy, do I delete the application folder on my HD?

Eventually you will, but there's no rush.

I left my HD untouched for a bit after I moved everything over just to make sure everything was working well. Once I was confident everything was OK, I went through and deleted the redundant folders on my old HD.

I'm just guessing, but with Lion being distributed through the mac App Store, I'm thinking there will be an option to create a small Mac OS Install/Recovery partition on your drive (kind of how a Bootcamp partition is created), instead of relying on a physical DVD.

So how does the OS know what Drive to open the App from if it is on both. Sorry I am new to Mac
 
Are you launching your Apps from the dock? The OS will look for the dock apps in the Applications Folder on whatever drive you booted from.

To test where they are, try booting from the SSD and then right click on the app in the dock and go to "Options" > "Show in Finder." it should point to the app here:
Macintosh SSD/Applications/

Now if you boot from the HD and go to "Options" > "Show in Finder.", it should point to:
Macintosh HD/Applications/

When I do this, it's in the applications section under places...
 
I cloned my hardrive using carbon copy. Is there a way for me to install the OS onto the SSD using that? I really dont want to take out the optibay out and reinstall the CD drive just to put the OS on the SSD.

I also downloaded 10.6.3 iso and put it on a external HD, can I boot up with that and put it on the SSD?= by holding C at start up?

Did you clone from a disk that already had Mac OS installed? If so, you don't need to re-install the OS. Restart and hold down the option key as it starts up and you should have two disks that are available to boot.
 
Ok, well when I set my MBP to boot from the SSD, everytime I turn it on, it goes into its own account (after the welcome song it makes you make a account)

How do I get it to boot, then go into my old account? Im using carbon copy to transfer my old HD stuff to the SSD hoping that it will fix this, but is there something I am missing?
 
Try to boot into your HD and check your user account folder on your SSD to see if the Library folder is there. If not, you need to copy it over to the SSD.
 
Ok, I am pretty sure I have it all set up properly now. Thanks everyone.

I used some benchmarking apps, and my SSD is averaging around 180mb/s write and 230mb/s read. Is this normal, or should it be higher?

I have the intel 510 series in my 2010 MBP

When you say OSX, what files are included? They may be invisible, but I have Apps, Library, and System Library on the SSD. Im not sure if I need those two library's, so I may delete them.

But I am wondering why I only get around 100mb/s read and 200mb/s write with the drive. I was expecting 300+ speeds
