I wish they had a 24gb model.
16gb simply can't hold my music library and my apps.
32gb is a ton more space than I need.
64gb is just way too much. I seriously worry about the battery drain.
haha. it costs so little for them to bump the capacity from 16 to 32. What *I* wish they'd done (maybe next year) is moved the lineup so that the base model was 32gb.

I had a 64gb 4s, a 64gb 5, and a 64gb 5s. I found that I had over 40gigs free space in all 3 cases, so I gave my 64gb 5s to DH and went with a 32gb 5s instead. Now instead of 40 gigs free, I have 18 gigs free.

I'm one of those moms who I had thousands of pictures on their iPhones (saved over the course of several years). Still, photos only took up 5 gigs of space on my phone, which leaves me plenty of space on my 32gb phone.

certainly true, and bread is only flour and water.
I just tire of the pricing increment in $100, when you get a doubling of capacity for each $100?
Give me a $50 tier in between 16 and 32gb.
Though I may just find a use for that "extra" 8gb after all.

I took 2000 pics when I went to Cali and it only took 4GB, so how many do you take? or is it that you just keep them all on the phone?

I keep them on my phone as I am always showing pictures to people even from years ago. I currently have 4,718 photos on my phone so that's odd - not sure how 4.7k photos take 18GB but your 2K photos takes 4GB - ahhh just noticed that videos taken with the camera also counts to that space - this explains it ahaha!

For me, 64GB on a phone with a screen this small doesn't make sense.

If I want to game... IPad.
If I want to have all my music... ICloud
If I want to carry my entire photo library... IPad.
If I want all my files... DropBox.
If I want a ton of video... IPad / Netflix / Hulu

I tend to have 64GB iPads that are always full and 32GB iPhones that tend to have everything I need for the road and 10GB open.

I agree if there was an option between 16 and 32 I would of probably gone for that.

Just an update guys, I woke up really early this morning just to go to the flagship store in Sydney. I was 30 mins early before the store was opened and I managed to grab the last ticket of the space grey in 32gb!

Of course, they let me exchange the 64gb for the 32gb and I was out of the store with a big smile on my face :) it was totally worth it!

After 2 days of trying out the 64gb, I've realised that I didn't need that much storage after all..

If you're still waiting for yours, you'll get one eventually! I've been waiting for ages so I completely understand how it actually feels.

Oh to those who posted negative comments on this thread... Get a grip and be helpful for once. I only came here to seek for advice, not for your idiotic, smartass comments. Kthx

Thanks for all of your help guys!

How do you know? 2 days with a phone is not enough time. Come back in 6 months you will wish you kept the 64Gb:)

As for your winge about the comments your an Aussie toughen up;)

Ask yourself this question. If you went into a store to buy a memory stick and the 64G was $130 more than the 32G would you buy it. This is very expensive storage and it is so easy to change, add delete music on itunes when you sync your phone.

Those with money to burn it does not matter but it still remains expensive storage.

If I needed to store 50gb of stuff in one place, then the 64 would be better than the 32 in this case. Yes, it's expensive storage but if it's needed, it can be worth the cost. If you buy the 32 then find you need the 64, what will it cost to upgrade?

My wife wanted the 64 because she loads a lot of audiobooks on it. If I ever replace my iPad it will have 128gb or more. I have a lot of videos on it.

i personally wanted something bigger than 64 gb. the games i play are all over 1 gb installs. that alone will take up about 10 gb if you are working through a few games.

spotify/pandora/itunes radio works for a large percentage of the population but not for everyone. i am a huge music junkie and a lot of dj remixes and sets are not available through spotify so i keep them on hand. as well, i drive through a lot of deadzones and it would drive me nuts to have to buffer music all the time. the cloud only works if you have a solid internet/service connection all the time.

like a lot of other people here, i take a lot of photos and video as well and that fills up rather quickly. yes, i can take the time to dump them on cloud or physical back ups and clean up my phone but that is the luxury of having 64 gb of space. you don't have to do it all the time.

I debated about the 128GB if it were and option. I mean, we all didn't know at first. But after the announcement, I was so relieved it was only 64GB..

On the iPhone 4 the highest you could go was 32GB.. I did get that one, and found that I needed more. I have a running need for greater than 32.

With the 4S, I got the 64GB, and it was perfect. I run at about 40GB+.

I don't like spending the money. Part of me want's the biggest storage, and part needs it. I considered, if the 128GB came out, I would probably get the 64GB anyway, do to need, and hope that it would cost $299...

Oh well.... This year feels a bit harder. I am also getting the Xbox One, and the new iPad mini, if and or when it comes out. I suspect I will get it, even if it was not RD. Oh and I also got a puppy for $1500... This is an expensive Fall/Winter for me. :)

I had intentions of buying the space grey in 32gb but it was out of stock. The only option was 64gb. I know I could wait longer but I couldn't... I've been urging for a new phone for ages. I felt like I was in a rush attack.

However, I really don't know if it was worth chucking an extra $130 just for extra storage. I'm not even sure if I regret this purchase or know if I'm even happy with it. Is 64gb really that worth it or should I return it? I know it's always good to have more just incase, but do I really need it?

I really don't know what I'm doing... Any advice?

I have a 100GB google drive and i stream everything, along with iTunes match. i only got 32GB because i take lots of photos. $25/year for iTunes match and $60/year for 100gb of storage is a better deal than $130gb for an extra 32gb imho.

If you can return it and exchange for a 32gb, id go for it.

I had been using my iPhone 4 for 3+ years (since release) and was seriously ready for a new phone. I very briefly owned the new HTC One, and while I loved the hardware, I absolutely HATED the Andriod OS. I took it back 3 days later, and now they're almost giving away the HTC One.

Walking into the Apple store on Saturday, the day after release, I was hoping for a gray or white 32gb 5s. All they had for AT&T at that time were gray 16's or 64's, and without hesitation I jumped on a 64gb Space Gray. (Total time spent looking for and buying my new iPhone - 25 minutes. :D) I couldn't be happier with the phone. Maybe I'll never need 64gb of storage, but I was always maxed out on the 16gb iP4, and it was a bit frustrating to have to delete stuff to make room for other stuff.

To top it off, and thanks to this forum, I got the $36 upgrade fee waived, and then sold my iPhone 4 and cleared about $190 after fees!

So this is how I rationalized it - Yeah, I spent $100 more than I intended, however I'm not dealing with the frustration and anxiety that many are feeling over finding or waiting for their new phone, and the 64gb should be worth somewhat more than a 32 at resale time. I also suspect that the market value would only drop further the longer I would have waited to sell something as old as an iPhone 4.

My wife and probably other women with young kids keep thousands of pics.

She finally gave me her iPhone 5 32gb after 6 months to backup the pics since we needed 3gb to free space to update to ios7.

This. The smartphone or tablet of most tech challenged or tech indifferent people I've known (male or female) have tons of botched photos, songs they downloaded to listen to once, 500+ tabs in Safari (many opened a few months ago just because they errantly hit a link on a webpage) and 2000 emails that should have been deleted years ago but never were.

If you have one of these people in your life you'll want them to have 64GB devices. They'll be coming to you less often for cleanup.

Keep it and use it. Better re-sale next year when the Ip6 comes out

My experience is that the 64gb usually has the most uncertain resale value, simply because it was so expensive to begin with ($950 retail). You can get a 64gb iPhone 5 for around $450 these days on ebay. Whereas a 16gb iPhone 5 can still run $350-$400. Obviously, experience may vary.

Who says nobody backs them up?

Where did I imply nobody backs them up?

If you had thousands of pictures backed up, then you would not have a real storage issue. My point is that having extreme oodles of storage on a portable device and keeping all of your eggs in one basket is an asinine idea. Backing them up both adds the safety of redundancy as well as lowering the required space on the portable device.

my general response when people ask if a higher model of something is worth its price difference than the lower model is: "how long does it take you to earn the price difference?"

i mean, more storage is always better, and i dont know how long it takes for you to earn 130 dollars, but in the bigger scheme of things, it is only 130 dollars, and i would definitely drop 130 for the convenience of having more storage. of course, the value of 130 dollars and having more storage is subjective. :)

I was in the same predicament with a gold 5s. Wanted a 32 but nothing available except a 64 so I purchased it. While I was waiting to pick it up I thought why should I have to settle for something when clearly I don't need it. So I canceled the order.

While I can afford the extra cost I just wouldn't be happy with it. I know every time I use the phone I would think about how I had to settle. Being reminded of this fact every single hour of my waking day is no way to own an iPhone.

You guys make me laugh..... 64gig too big? I have 64gig and won't come close to filling it up...... Ok, what's the big deal? IF you already spent the money then you could afford it. 64gig is good for resale later on.

You'll get at least $75-$100 more when you sell the phone in 2 years (if you do) with it being 64gig.

OP, lighten up a bit and let the comments you don't like roll off you... after all this is the internet and no one knows you so why do you care what they say?

Being reminded of this fact every single hour of my waking day is no way to own an iPhone.
Wow! Would it really bother you THAT much? If so may I recommend you don't sweat the small stuff.
