My iphone 3gs backlight was acting up, so i took it to the apple store to get it looked at. well my appt was for 4:00 i got there at 4:30 (i had to drive 2hrs to get there) and they had canceled my appt,( if your 7 mins late they cancel it). so i had to wait 45 mins until someone could get to me. any way, he looked at my phone and said he was going to the back and re-seat some cables and try and get it working, well he came back and said he tried a few diff screens and it wouldnt work, so he was going to give me a replacement. and I am one of the people who accidentally upgraded to 3.1.3, but the phone they gave me has 3.1.2 🙂. so i was soooo happy. just thought i share that, they dont update the phones immediately.

well their not going to unpack phones and get their finger prints on it, maybe drop is, give a few scratches from trying to plug it in just to do one minor update.

After you Jailbreak your iphone 3GS can you restart it without asking you to plug into itunes?
You know a tethered or untethered jailbreak.

well i just jailbroke it with blackrain, and i unplugged it , and restarted the phone, and it boots up fine

forgot to mention that i bought this phone off of a friend for 275$ 🙂, his mom got him a new one or something. lol, so all in all a super deal

I lucked out as well yesterday. Had a tethered jailbreak and got a 3.1.2 replacement which is untethered. I'm sure its a remanufactured one as the lifetime hours was 23 days. but who cares. It works perfect.
