Can you even add attachments in the stock email app yet? I switched to a different mail app on my phone a while back. Another very odd limitation.

Yes you can, but only from cloud locations! To make it right we need to be able to search all of our apps local storage (file system).

From the Cloud, yes. I use Gmail, but its still a pain vs. Gmail on my Note 4 where I can browse gallery, file system, cloud etc...
Apple brags about it being more powerful then 90% of laptops, but they conveniently leave out the fact it's less capable in functionality then 100% of laptops
+1
Exactly!

What is the point of all this power if you can't even put it to good use!?

But this is crucially where people are missing the point. It isnt a lap top or competing with them. Its it's own category. No ones ever mentioned the ipad is a laptop replacement.

Treat it for what it is.

Less capable than a laptop? Thats a completely relative statement. Its an ipad, not a laptop. It doesnt run osx and doesnt run desktop apps. Remember that you'll be ok.

How could something with no real file system replace a laptop?

iOS has a file system. The files for the app are in the app, it just needs a global add/remove/rename folder structure as Goodreader does. If it had a USB-C port that allowed a USB drive to be attached, to copy files to or from the app based folder structure that would help a lot. If the apps were full apps and not lite that would help. I believe the latest Office goes a long way towards that. Wireless mouse would help too. That would all make the iPad Pro, laptop-like

True, but its being pushed to businesses, and if anyone wants to do note them watch movies, surf, play games, it needs to do more. Its a laptop screen size, but it lacks functionality or its too hard to use like a laptop for on the go use. Fix that.

It should run desktop featured apps, not lite apps.

It doesnt need OSX to have laptop capability, an OS is JUST an OS, its how you access files , how you use the apps, that make it useful. Fix that in iOS

Not for me. Im a chief advertiser for a top UK brand, and the size and capability of the new pro WILL be superb. Ideal. It'll aide me in official business day to day work. I have numerous other high end clients where this new ipad pro will become invaluable, so dont tell me it's not up to pro standards. It certainly is. Its apps might be 'lite', but they're compatible with desktops and super powerfull.

My business work flow will be instantly lifted in a couple of months i assure you.

Thats good news. But its the size that helps you not the capability. Plus the Force Touch, oh, it doesnt have that.

I might get one. The iPad is a great consumption device, and to watch/read/play, the larger screen will be nice.

It seems from the Apple Intro. Demo, that the iPad Pro is aimed at business professionals not the general public. but i am sure all iPad users who buy one will be very happy with them.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner. It is far past time we get over this idea that 'pros' are photographers and movie makers, sitting around in the park creating their independent movie.

Pros are professionals, which means business and sales people. That's where the money is and that's where apple wants to be.

No, it's heavily pushed to apps that help, not pure size alone. Force touch? Not something that'll be a positive to me professionally.

So the iPad Pro apps differ from the iPad Air apps?

Force Touch should have been on it. Its a small, convenience feature, efficiency in accessing menu items

I agree. But the Pro is just a larger iPad, albeit that is a good thing productivity wise. What has helped the iPad become better and better is not the Pro, but the recent years Post SJ catchup on Android features. To me, the iPad Pro, is the iPad Air 12.9

We won't know until developers start submitting apps that either rework their wireframes to take advantage of the extra space or just let the iPad scale up the original app to a larger size to fit the bigger screen...

This area is still very unclear and personally I would like some answers. Apps are what will make or break this device and no one seems to know how they will work... We might even have to purchase our apps again if they are rewritten for the larger screen.

It's looking like this could get expensive if we need to purchase apps separately for not only iPhone and iPad, but the iPad Pro and Apple TV as well

Yeah I purchased angry birds four times

Angry birds
Angry birds HD
Angry birds Pro
Angry birds TV

o_O

Only on iOS can you be charged this many times for the same app that fits different screen sizes. Can you imagine buying ms word separately for your 13" laptop, 15" laptop and 27" desktop lol

I've not used a pro (clearly) but I also don't see the point of it either.
This is a me too product with Apple not getting the bits needed into the box.

Microsoft got the surface devices totally spot on. if I wanted a cross over device that would be where my money would go. Other option would be the rMB, but I can't see I'd ever bother with this - but I will leave my final opinion until I have had a play one in an apple shop.

iOS file system is a joke

And also no USB port proves how much to take this "file system" seriously

x64 processor and OS X would've been a better choice since you can multiboot Windows and Linux.

Here's Surface Pro 3 running OS X:

the fact its got a stonking big screen and processor power gives it greater functionality alone. yes, does the same as the previous ipads, only better, faster and more efficiently in a big way. this is the very definition of functionality.

so yes, it does do a little more than a standard ios device. a little different? well, i did read the ios was slightly tweaked to account for the Pro.

or are you guys after a completely different functioning ios for each style mobile device? as it stands ios is ios. thats the point. it's the hardware that changes and boy, is the Pro certainly different than anything before, purely down to it's size, spec and additions.

Sorry but that is not the definition of functionality. Google it if you disagree.

You have taken the two areas it differs from an air, size and processor and claimed its offers greater functionality while being restricted by the same fundamental contraints as other iPads.

The stylus is the one area it's introducing functionality to what other iPads do not have

People expected a direct competitor to the surface pro running OS X , instead they got a larger and more powerful iPad with a stylus.

At least they stopped calling it magical......

Very easily.

Most people don't care where or how their stuff is stored, so long as they can easily find it.

Extensions will fix this eventually.

It ia quite hard to see any business using a device without a real file system. Ipad pro for businesses, yeah maybe for home businesses...

You may want to look into just how popular the iPhone and iPad already are in the enterprise.

~ 50% of our 600 users with a PC have an iPhone for example.

If you look at the top 500 they also make significant use of the iDevices.

It's the usual same old thing. The assumption that a new product released HAS to be made for you.

If you are not in the target demographic, and see no potential use from it - then it's not for you.

As an illustrator I can tell you now - this is the most exciting iPad update ever for me and I can't wait to add it to my roster of work tools - not as media consumption device - but as a very useful production tool.

Apple make a plethora of devices .... All shapes and sizes... Just because (A) doesn't suit - doesn't make it a bad or poor device. It just makes it not for you personally. However you personally are not representative of ALL. End of.
