So is my external HD toast?

So I came home tonight and the light on my external HD is out. I try to stream a song from itunes library and itunes says can't find file. I double click the external HD mounted on my desktop hooked through airport. All main file folders show up but when you try and look for a file in a folder nothing happens.

I went over to the external HD and it was flaming hot and making a bit of a jamming noise. I unplugged it, plugged it back in and nothing. So am I basically screwed at this point? Anyway to get the files off there?

Phone up the manufacturer and cry to them. Maybe not cry, but tell them what happened and ask what to do.

thanks..that's a good idea. hadn't thought about that basic thing. will do tomorrow.
