i was holding my dads iPhone 7 Plus today and I totally forgot how light it felt.. and it’s a PLUS!! And that’s also with a case on. It made me want to have one again so bad, lol... is there any hope that Apple will make newer iPhones a bit thinner/lighter again? What does the reports and rumors say? I don’t understand Apple, up until iPhone 6 their goal was to make them as thin as possible, and now they get thicker each year.

I hope it's just as thick as the current X.

I have an 8, which is thinner than the X, but thicker than the last several generations of phone, and my oh my does it feel good and substantial. That's a feeling I do NOT want to lose.

But more importantly...

No notch & Full edge to edge “infinity” display

I have no complaints about the iPhone thickness or weight as it is. I always like to reflect where iPhones were 10 years ago compared today, it’s astonishing to see the changes and how compact and powerful these phones are in our pockets. To me, it’s kind of frivolous complaining about the thickness of a phone today compared to where mobile phones once were.

It's the glass back on the 8 & X that increase their weight noticeably. The iPhone 4S was a brick in the pocket too- glass back.

Interestingly enough, the iPhone X at 174g is lighter than the iPhone 7 Plus at 188g

Presumably, the iPhone XS will be identical in dimensions to the iPhone X

but one cannot say for certain, as even S model iPhones have had discrepancies from the prior casing (similar but not 100% identical, a la 6 and 6s).

Perhaps because it’s thinner it “feels” lighter, while the x is smaller making it feel heavier. I feel the same way about my new MacBook Pro 15-inch which heavier than my 2013 13-inch but the slimness makes it feel lighter.

I actually agree. I don't mind the "thickness" and weight of the current model. It's actually pretty thin if you just look at it without comparing.

I really don't know what apple could do to improve the iPhone X. I guess that'll be for them to figure bc even the notch, for me, isn't a problem at all.

Yes, it could be due to that - also could be due to the fact it is physically smaller and thus feels more dense (sort of like the iPhone 4S) - both could contribute to that sensation

Something interesting about the "S" models is that the iPhone 3GS, 4S, 6s all were heavier than their predecessors, and only the 5s was the same weight (we could also include the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 7 as well, given it is physically identical in appearance aside from the glass rear + accommodated camera housing)...iow, all "S" models aside from the 5s have been heavier - so the XS might not be 100% identical in weight and dimensions.

According to the case manufacturers, it is identical in dimensions - but we still don't know for sure at this point if that includes the bezel (there's been disagreement online regarding that) and the weight

Personally I love the weight of the X. It feels substantial without feeling thick. Picking up an iPhone 6 or something just feels flimsy and “cheaper” comparatively.

I think special version 6.5 has 1 cool feature people will buy it like Hot Cake

that how apple do improve version alltime
