So many Macbook Pros in Refurbished section at apple

At least here in Canada, there is a ridiculous amount of macbook pros in the refurbished section of apple's online store.

Is this the same in the US and other countries? Is there any particular reason there are so many there?

I've noticed this before. They seem to come in fits and spurts without any rhyme or reason. I doubt that any real conclusions can be drawn here, except that there are some excellent deals on the site. If I were in the market for a 15-inch MBP, there's a 2008 model sans integrated battery for a decent discount.

Agreed. There was a ton of current generation ipod "refurbs" a few days ago. Even 64GB touches, which I've never seen before.

Seems like a good way to unload stock quietly - without upsetting recent purchasers or undermining the premium price point instore.

I've bought refurb 3 times (ipod, ATV, iMac). Apart from the plain packaging, I couldn't tell the difference from brand new (which I've also bought many times)

That's fallacious argumentation. There is no correlation between Macs in the refurb store and the new release schedule. You're asking us to prove a negative, which is impossible.
