My machine was doing a lot of disk activity this morning, TM was off and nothing has change since yesterday, so I check Activity Monitor which I often do.

There were more than 80 processes running on it. I have never SEEN that many running at one time. What are they all doing?

there were all there before as well, lol, don't be scared, its all the same on all OSes.

don't remember

I just don't remember having to scroll through THREE pages of processes before. I am pretty much a memory freak, and so much of this little junk just wasn't there. I'll try to pull some screen shots and process analysis from Tiger.

Perhaps your memory doesn't serve you well, by default it only lists *My Processes*.

74 to 80/85 was about normal for me on Tiger, which is about the same on Leopard. I've still got more software to install though.

i have now 30 or 40 running, but i can't go much higher since my ram is only 512MB

did you ever consider that Tiger may just hides some processes from you?:)
