I bought and downloaded the Geekbench 4 app and ran it on various Apple phones and iPads in the house:

My iPhone 7 Plus, 1+ years old - test results good;
My wife’s iPhone 6s, 2+ years old -test results slow;
(2) iPhone 5s, iPad mini; iPad Pro - test results all good.

Based on what I’ve been reading, results aren’t surprising.

My wife said her 6s seemed slow yesterday, unaware of all the recent emotional stories and lawsuits about Apple throttling phones with EOL or weak batteries. I personally don’t think it’s that big of a deal, and we’ll get her 6s battery replaced. I’m glad to know the battery needs to be replaced.

My suggestion to Apple would be to make a notification pop up when it’s time for a new battery. Make it quick and easy to replace the battery, whether that’s a do it yourself process or take it in. Fortunately we live in a big city with Apple Stores and cell phone repair shops nearby.

I really don’t understand all of the emotion and lawsuits. Apple is a company that makes good products and I don’t expect them to disclose all of the inner workings of their software and hardware. I came to accept cell phones were only going to last 2 years before flip phones were all the rage. My first cell phone was in a bag with a cord and huge battery and I don’t think that thing even lasted 2 years. When I took it to the place I bought it to be repaired they told me they never sold phones like that and it wasn’t repairable.

I called Apple support, described the issue with the 6s speed. They asked for the serial number and said it qualifies for free repair. Appointment at the Apple store next Saturday. iPhone was purchased Oct. 2015. Emotions are happy lol.

I took the 6s to Apple Store yesterday, they said it would take about an hour and a half to replace the battery. I went back to pick it up and the Apple Genius guy said the battery was swollen and the battery replacement couldn’t be done. They gave me a new iPhone 6s. No charge. I was speechless. Wife is happy.
