So, my iPhone 6 Plus showed up in my AT&T account

And somehow my SIM in my current iPhone was deactivated. Seems had to go to AT&T store to get a new SIM for my current iPhone 5? Anyone else have this happen? Apple says this is quite common around Christmas time. Either the phone got turned on in the box or they accidentally activated during processing. 😱 Not sure I buy any of it. 🙄
