I think if it’s shiny gold, then it tends to just look cheap and plasticky. Like a £2.99 iPhone case from the stand in your local shopping mall.

The previous sort of matt finish champagne gold was ok, just not for me, but I still thought it at least looked premium.

New color is awesome but if the new color phone is put in a case with a totally different color, the new color will be worthless. With no changes on physical design, the phone totally looks the same as the first generation. Such a fruitless effort and purchase!! Incremental updates itself are meh.

You must be new to iPhones. They've always been on a tick-tock cycle but Apple decided to take a break from redesigns with the 7 and 8 series.

I wouldn't mind if every iPhone from now on was only available in black or white.

These extra colours don't interest me at all & are pretty shallow marketing moves by Apple imo - i'm not looking at the back of the phone + i'm always housing the thing in a case.

What matters is the performance & quality of such an expensive device, not what shade of rose gold is on the backside that i'll hardly see...

The problem is that the new gold color will have a poor PVD coating like the current space grey.
Unfortunately, you can’t polish PVD finishes, therefore the Silver color is the best.
