wasn't the new iphone suppose to handle faster 3g speeds or was that false! didn't see that mentioned! all i hear about is faster ram and etc.

I have a HTC magic that has a 7.2Mbps HSDPA chip and it is MUCH faster than my iPhone 3G. It is as fast as wifi.

The iPhone 3G has always had a 7.2mbps 3G radio.

Wasn't the 3G's radio firmware disabled from being a 7.2 mbps device? I though the 3GS, once the 7.2 network is actually deployed, will be able to take advantage of those speeds and not the original 3G.
