iPad So no one wants iPad air ?

If I recall, the iPad 4 still had remaing stock until this point last year. Can't recall if it was out of stock at any point last year.
Also, when I called Best Buy yesterday to see if I needed to wait in line in the morning, they reported to me that Apple had shipped them a lot of iPad Airs, way more than previous years. They wouldn't give me an exact number, but they felt comfortable telling me that if I arrived at 9am there would still be plenty left.
I ordered at midnight, 128G Silver, Verizon for in store pickup today. I just checked that model at my store online; no longer available for that option today, "ship to store" now shows, and it's not even 8AM here in California.

Lines every morning for weeks.... That was a new form factor and people went crazy.. This is the biggest change since ipad 2... I thought we'll see people going crazy over this one too

The iPad 4 was the worst launch ever followed by the iPad 3. Ipad 2 had the best launch in terms of buzz but the stock sucked for months. Today the market is over saturated with these 9.7 iPads which Apple still supports. Theres no need for the vast majority of casual users to upgrade from an iPad 2, 3 or 4. Even Apple is shooting themselves in the foot for keeping the iPad 2 alive. The retina iPad mini will create buzz because supply will not meet demand at first.
Next year Apple better do something different. We pretty much know that iPad mini 3 will have the same display.

I dont think people lined up for the iPad 2 because of the form factor. It was because they ultimately could not make enough and demand outstripped stock. Plus the iPad was still relatively new at that time. Everybody from 4 years old to 90 knows what an iPad is today. That was not the case 2 ½ years ago.
My Apple Store was busy, but my buddy who works there said they got 1500 iPads, and we are in the suburbs. It's just much better stocked.
iPad 2 didnt have the iPad mini to compete with. And even like that I'm sure when the numbers come out you'll see that the iPad Air outsold the ipad 2 on launch weekend by a wide margin.... rendering this thread useless and silly.
Just got back from the Apple Store to pickup mine. The store was PACKED to the brim and I got there at 11:30am...3 1/2 hours after they opened. I'm in a quiet suburban area and the store is in my local shopping mall... so a small trek to get to the actual store from your car.
SO yea... you're just wrong. I spoke with the sales guy there for about 10 minutes just because we were having a great convo. He told me the supply was HUGE for the iPad Air so they could fulfill the demand easily.
They simply quit with the lame game of shortening supply to create buzz. They rather have the huge revenues from now until the holiday season than some false buzz. What good is buzz if people can't go and actually buy one and earn Apple money?
The Mini Retina is only going to be hard to get because the retina display in that size are having supply issues.
Just because they don't make enough of something doesn't mean it's hot and in demand, and just because they make enough for everyone doesn't mean it didn't sell well.
