So Samsung Galaxy S10 screen better than XR iPhone?

The oled screen does have certain advantages over lcd. That said unless they were compared side by side with an equivalent calibration, I would think the differences would be minimal(subjective), though noticeable.
Was in "vivid mode"? Cause that mode is not accurate. Change it to basic and it should look more similar.

The S10 has Samsung’s best OLED screen in it and the XR is using Apples best LCD. The colours are going to be sharper on the S10 and it’s down to you which one you prefer. I personally don’t think the XR has a bad screen at all. I’d happily use it.
I’ve preferred OLED for many years, a big difference exists between the s10 and Xr screen. Can most people tell the difference? No idea
I think if both phones are side by side then people will see a difference. Whether it’s a big difference seems to be subjective to the individual. I’ve compared the XR to the XS Max and not seen enough of a significant difference personally. Makes my buying choices much cheaper though which isn’t going to make me complain lol.
Finally you found the difference between oled and lcd. It literally took you years... Hope you'll find the next ones regarding apples.

Not everybody cares that the screen on their phone is not deemed quite as good as another. It’s about over all package and OLED devices are considerably more expensive than the iPhone XR. It’s not about being sold out to a lie at all.
This. While yes, the S10's screen is almost certainly a better screen than the XR (OLED vs LCD,) stores tend to have displays set up in a "vivid" or "vibrant" mode to over-exaggerate colors for use in demoing.
My friend compared my S10 to his iPhone XS Max, and we both agreed the colors on the S10 were much better. I even adjusted for "Natural" vs "Vivid" Mode, True Tone, etc. S10 was much better when looking at the same picture. Plus the higher resolution and PPI was noticeable.
So the difference between the S10 and XR would most likely be even more pronounced.
It’s vivid in a good way. It kinda looks like the picture you’re looking at is jumping from the screen. It’s amazing.
I have since switched my S10 back to vivid, and gave it slight warm tint (+1 from center on the slider) and I actually got the screen to look better than the Note 10+, mostly because it's brighter.
This is a good point. If you’re into photography, you know that your eyes/brain adjust for many things especially color. If you sit in a room with fluorescent lighting a short while, everything looks normal (also tungsten-balanced lighting) but if you take an image without adjusting for the color balance, the camera will show you what the scene really looks like and it will be quite different from your perception of it.
I am into photography and have quite a good kit but with phones I’m happy with the choices I’ve made.
I think putting the XR and other OLED phones side by side you’ll see a slight difference. It’s down to the consumer to decide if the difference is worth paying the extra for. I think a lot of the time in shops you’ll find people are happy with the XR as it’s clearly a good phone but £250 cheaper than the next iPhone. Most people I know buy or upgrade online and the price is the only thing they compare before they get the phone. The vibrancy of the screen is often irrelevant as the XR or older iPhones are simply good enough.
I have the S10e (1080p only screen) but got the upgraded version with 8GB RAM and 256 storage. The screen is fine and I have no complaints. I have it set to vivid and didn't make any other adjustments. I came from an iPhone XS and don't notice much difference at all. Maybe the S10e screen on vivid pops the colors a bit more...
Brighter? I thought all the 10 series, 10e through Note 10+ were all 1200 cd ⁄ m² max brightness?
I've noticed no brightness differences between my Note 10+ and my S10+. Both have thedispays set to vivid with the same exact slider settings.
