I am running 10.7.3 on a Macbook 2010 with 2.4ghz C2D, 4GB DDR3 and 250Gb HDD.
Lion is running pretty slow, I just opened up iTunes and it took 2 minutes before I could play a song. This is straight after I finished playing Garry's mod - will this matter?

I have no idea why it would be slow I only have about 60GB of the HDD filled up. I was thinking of reinstalling it (clean install is out of the question), will this make much of a difference?

I have used recovery to verify and fix permissions etc.

Any ideas would be a great help!

installed it the day it came out.
If a drive is constantly active or your CPU utilization is high (possibly with increased temps and fan speed) when you're not running any apps, check to see if Spotlight is indexing by looking at the Menu Bar icon:

Performance Tips For Mac OS X

You know, we just got a new Mac Pro (8 core 2.4ghz) and I've noticed some slowness in InDesign when I have graphics at high resolution preview. Like DOG slow. This machine shouldn't be slow AT ALL. Our Dual G5 handles that better for the most part. Whats up with that?
