Anyone have reasons why my MacBook takes so long too open photos from my Seagate external hard drive. A lot of people will use the same set-up they can't all be having the same problem it makes impossible to use.
 
More information about your setup would help.

But, if I had to guess, there may be something wrong with the external HDD.
 
Hi, 500 gig Seagate (not sure of the speed). Mac OS X version 10.6.8, 2.3 GHz i5, 4 GB MHzDDR3 and connected via USB.
