So i have been thinking after todays world wide release delay and have been pondering the real reason behind it, i dont take the "due to overwhelming US demand" crap as by Apple's own figures they have only sold an extra 150k since launch day.

so what can the real reason be??, the LCD perhaps? a bottle neck there would completely screw Apples time scales, or even supply issues with the A4 chip, perhaps yield rates are low

to me it seams apple perhaps was hoping to resolve the supply issues by launch when it was originally announced, then the 60 days came and they had to push back again, clearly they still have issues and with the 3G is coming in the US this has meant they have had to give the US priority of incoming parts

There's a cock up in the supply, process and demand chain.

The most likely reason is iBooks deals and 3G network contracts.

That's unless there's a production problem. But only a week ago at the OS4 launch Steve said he was pleased (or similar term) with the ramp up in production and expects to meet the launch dates.

Does it really matter why there is a delay? Accept it and move on.

Pretty much every company gives preference to their home country.

They are either... delaying to make hype more.

Fixing the wifi issues or attempting to do something about it...

Or theres generally an issue with supply...

It still doesnt alter the fact that they could have gave us the prices by now.

They already have the prices sorted.. they have had them sorted for weeks... they knew exactly what they were doing before they even announced the ipad.

The decision was made awhile ago and its obvious... maybe they are just waiting around before accouning their final price incase they can zap a little more money out of us.

Well accept it or not. The ipad is delayed. The US has the most Smartphone users in the world. Therefore it makes sense that apple would not delay a device in the US to sale it in europe.

And considering that the US has ALWAYS had to wait for most things that were created in JAPAN and for some smartphones released in EUROPE first to have the purchase them on the grey market. Turnabout is fairplay

He said "over" 500,000, so I wouldn't take that number too seriously. There's no indication that sales have been slowing, or that what Apple is saying--that sales have far exceeded expectations--is not true.

They waited this long to tell us about the dellay so of course we will have to wait near pre order date to get price.
