Maybe u can do it over eithernet-to-usb adapter? or the lack of a USB-C port would then make it tougher to do exactly this.

Apple obviously want this a closed system, unless there is a way... (i guess there would be)

Apps and such are done wirelessly through Xcode 9. DFU restore, well according to there webpage you need to "contact Apple support". Lol.
