Like Touch ID never failed? Touch ID doesn't work if you have wet fingers. One fail during a demo has zero significance other than a touch of embarrassment but it was handled well and the 2nd phone worked perfectly.

Hardly a fail. Sorry to ruin your day.

The anointed pro reviewers wil test out Face ID more rigorously in the coming weeks and we'll know more about it. I'm sure it's just as reliable as Touch ID was when it first came out.

The demo fail explaination was literally on the interface as it happened, showing « Face ID requires passcode to be enabled » meaning the device was restarted shortly before without entering passcode. It was not a reliability issue.

yeah, lets see what happen when you are skiing with your ski glasses, in winter with your scarf, when driving, or simply just when you cannot face directly to the phone…

They wouldnt make this kind of big mistake. It was the face detection didnt work even they tested it millions times before the show.

But the interface shows this and it’s the only reason why it showed that. Either someone tried to unlock it with his face several times (which can’t really happen since the way it works is it only look for your face, no « tries ») or it was restarted pre-show.

May be he had failed 2 times right before he talked, then he tried again on stage and fail. You think they are stupid enough to reboot the phone? Lol.

I dont think, I’m certain that’s what happened. If you ever used Touch ID before you would know that only happens under certain circumstances. And the way iPhone X unlocks seems to look for your face, if he ever tried before obviously it would have unlocked, and it wouldn’t show the message which appeared on the screen.

Ya or when you are trying to call your getaway driver after robbing a bank! Or when you are wearing your steampunk style driving glasses when driving your Model T through 1908 America! Oh you aren't being sarcastic?

You ski with goggles and no gloves? Say the temp is high enough, aren't your hands wet?

It works with a scarf like they demonstrated and is on their webpage. Assuming it doesn't completely cover your face. Again through if its so cold your scarf is completely covering your face you probably have gloves on right?

Driving? Ignoring all laws to prevent being that guy. When would you need to unlock your phone while driving but NOT look at it?
