That he slide up animation on non X devices on iOS 11 is because of X slide up gesture and animation backported

Seems the same with the app close animation being based on the X swipe to close gesture as well.

Not seeing the correlation with the app close animation. How does that relate to the swipe to close gesture on the X?

The app kind of "flings" closed unlike in iOS 10 where it zoomed out of the icon. Maybe that's just how I see it.

It still zooms in and out of the icon on my 8. On the X it first jumps up as you fling it and then it zooms into the icon.
