Someone posted this on another thread and it definitely put things into perspective! and now I have no doubt the Pro Max will be the best choice, going for the Pro I'm losing on a lot of that screen real estate! What do you think? Has this changed your mind about getting Pro or Pro Max?

If you’re referring to the mini and pro having same scaling as X/11 pro did, and not 11 or xr or max phones , nah

not thrilled about the change but a jailbreak tweak in time will fix that right up. Not a deal breaker either but a bit of a mysterious bummer.

should be a toggle able option

Yeah I don't jailbreak anymore. No wonder your little avatar looked so familiar lol, I remember jailbreaking my iPhone 4 back in the day. I just like having the screen size. And the Pro looks a lot smaller next to that Pro Max. That's just me

Oh yeah it’s massive haha

6.7” vs 6.1”

that’s a leap

I think max would be awesome but for the long haul I think the regular pro is more suited for me

even6.1” is a lot of phone when I had Xr

you sure?

I'm in this same point with not being able to decide but when it comes to price they are so close so I might just get the Pro Max

Price comparisons for 128/256 GB models

iPhone 12 Pro is $120 more than the 12

iPhone 12 Pro Max is $100 more than the 12 Pro or $220 more than the 12.

Not counting the mini because I feel that's a special market, the whole price difference is $220 from the regular 12 to the 12 Pro Max.

My thoughts on this are if you're not going for the larger screen of the Pro Max get the regular 12. It's basically a Pro iPhone with a lower price. The regular Pro doesn't seem to make sense unless you're not keeping it in a case to show off the stainless steel sides or maybe you just want to tell your friends you have a "Pro". If you don't mind or want a larger screen and like to take tons of photos (not selfies) get the Pro Max. The better camera is the big bonus here.

I think pro is worth the difference in price for 128gb users, 6gb ram brighter screen a third camera that stainless steel polish, and the frosted look has grown on me

I never had an 11 pro but I think the pacific blue is actually the best looking config of the whole line up. That would tip me towards pro also

I’ve been soooo ready for more screen!!! Give me that 12 Pro Max! My only complaint is that they won’t make the resolution smaller and allow for more rows on the home screen.

Wait, does the 6.1" not use the same "Max" scaling as the XR/11??

That would definitely change things for me. I've been looking at downsizing to a Pro since I was under the impression it would have dual-column apps, etc.

I get why they did it in part. To make the transition for 5.8” pro users easier and x / xs. But mixed bag since it’s leaving previous 6.1 and Max users in the dirt

I hope it’s addressed

Damn. Do we have confirmation on this?

Edit: I'm a dork. Just realized that the Pro and Max would show the same content in the above screenshot.

It doesn't anymore. The scale on the 6.1" got a little bigger to match 3x the resolution. 390pt width now instead of 414pt.

Aw man! 😭 Huge, huge bummer. I was *so* excited about potentially even moving to a regular 12 and not having such a brick of a phone.

I wasn't aware of this..... well I guess the Pro Max will be the best option

Hold up. Can somebody explain this? I loved the big screen on the 11PM because I liked to see bigger (not more) content. I’ve also had an 11 and found that workable. Are you saying the 12P even though it’s going to be 6.1 like the 11 is going to be...what exactly? It’s gonna make/scale everything smaller to show more content??

(I already use Zoomed display and bigger font everywhere possible. No I’m not crazy old. I’ve just spent so many years surfing that the sun’s reflection did its damage.)

I ask because I ordered the 12P for a change.

I looked at the spec sheet and it said the max brightness is the same but the average brightness is lower or something like that? I would like to see them side by side to see if there really is a difference. Spec sheets don’t always tell the story. Tell me if you’re worried about the camera you should go with the pro max because it actually has a better camera. 6 GB of RAM might help but again I would like to see side-by-side performance comparisons. Of course we’re only talking $120 so it might be a thing of why not especially if you’re not on a budget.

I saw these last night. And whilst I have a Max now, and love it looking at these there does seem to be a lot of extra wasted screen space on the Max.

My current 6.5” Max is occasionally a tad annoyingly too big, especially when trying to use one handed so I’m going for the 6.1” Pro. The screen size on my wife’s XR is the real sweet spot for my hand size and with the slimmer bezels should be perfect!

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what, exactly, are dual-column apps on iOS? I have the 11 Pro Max and I don’t think I’ve ever heard of being able to use two apps at once? I have on the iPad but no the iPhone. Or is this referencing something different?

You're good. Side by side, content on the 12P is going to appear slightly bigger than on the 11. (I personally wish they would have kept it the same)
