The reviews are somewhat expected, but it would be nice if Verge gave 9/10 instead of 7/10 for example. So it is also somewhat disappointing. Does the review change your mind? Will you still get it?

It's only going to get worse after the 24th, when other tech sites and bloggers start receiving and reviewing them. No Apple's PR hand, no playing nice politics with Apple (i.e. muting criticisms) - buy the watch with their own hard earned money and review it. It's not going to be pretty.

I'm still getting the SS Space Black. The reviews didn't tell me much I didn't already know or expect. It's a Gen 1 device. Of course there are some rough edges and the next version will be better.

Not necessarily. The watch blogs weren't in the early batch (Hodinkee and ABlogToWatch). They don't have technology expectations and will look at this from a different perspective.

I loved my gen 1 pebble. This does everything that I wish my gen 1 pebble did. Only issue is getting those features worth the added price? I was set on getting the 699 SS milanese Loop but now I'm wondering if I should just move down to the sport model.

I'll still get it but now I'm aware there's an undesirable lag in some functions. I'm still very enthusiastic about the Apple Watch overall. But this concern that the lag might not go away with software tweaks alone is pushing me toward the least expensive option. I had expected even with a first gen device that Apple would have ironed out such a noticeable detractor from the "at-a-glance" experience central to the concept of this device.

I think all of us coming from a pebble welcome the ability to interact with our notifications. The pebble really is one of the best 1st gen products I have ever owned.

I feel like pebble took a massive step back with the looks of the pebble time. It really looks like a fisher price toy.

Yup, I'm also downgrading - I figure if I only spent $399 on a sport model I will be less annoyed if the lag doesn't get improved with software updates. If it does, I will be pleasantly surprised!

how much of that 7/10 is b.c the reviewer does not "get" smart watches in general?

Is that not the main problem that wearables face? And the main problem the public will face? Unlike the iPhone and iPad there is no compelling reason to won a smart watch. I. Think all the reviews hint at this.

I think it is. I just think people who are already on the smartwatch bandwagon are overlooking that part of the reviews.

That is why I had hoped that apple would solve the wearables riddle and provide a device thay we needed. For me it feels like a IOS version of an android watch :(

Do you think the Verge review is the only one that matters? I've been focusing on it because I think it was a crap review. But it's not the only one out there. I initially thought Apple made a mistake with who they seeded review units too but maybe not. The watch doesn't go on sale for another 15 days plus people will be able to experience it themselves in stores starting Friday. Some of these reviews could be long forgotten 15 days from now.

After watching The Verge's my decision to get the Black SS dwindled dramatically. But throughout the day and watching the other reviews, I have decided to still keep that an option but have added a Silver SS with White Sport Band to my pre-order. I will go into the store the 10th and decide if the Black SS is worth the 1,000 dollars or not. If it isn't I'll still have the Silver SS with White Sport Band to use and I will eventually get another band more than likely the silver link bracelet and the blue leather loop.

Lag-gate...the next hot forum topic for MacRumors!:apple:

I think it'll be hotter than the Sun. If reviewers are mentioning it now, in their mostly lick-Apple's-ass reviews, imagine the ****storm here when hundreds of thousands of users will get the taste of it.

Here's my completely uneducated two cents...
Right now nobody really knows what to make of these watches. Is it a gadget? Is it jewelry? Is it a phone accessory? All of the above? Time will tell. But the only thing that will make reviewers right or wrong is the number of units sold. If the Apple watch flops then the reviewers can say "see, we were right." If they sell a bizillion units then the reviewers might have to change their view. One thing a lot of people noticed about the reviews today is they were kind of a review of smart watches in general more than a review of the Apple watch.

The reviews have made me go from considering the SS model to getting the Sport instead. That's about it, really.
