If you go to the apple store they are selling the S3 and the S1 only now.

Is that because the S3 non LTE is basically the EXACT same thing as the S2? So they just renamed it to S3? lol

The S3 GPS still has some nice upgrades over the S2 but not enough to keep selling both of them. It has the new dual core S3 processor with 70% performance gains over the S2 which allows Siri to speak responses. It has the W2 wireless chip for improved wireless performance. It has a new barometric altimeter to record altitude gains for workouts. All for $40 cheaper than the S2 was. I think it was a smart move to have the two series 3 options as the higher end models and the lowered priced S1 as the budget option still.

I personally will be upgrading from a launch day Series 0 to a new Series 3 with LTE.

whats the w2 for if u dont go LTE? or wireless improvement referring to it communicating with the iphone?

Pretty much, I intend to get the S2 with hopefully a nice discount.

In the next month, retailers will be looking to move inventory with the Series 2 to make
Way for Series 3. I would expect plenty of sales upcoming soon.

The Apple Store near me is still selling the S2, they even had it on display. I asked, and they were selling them at a discount.

B&H is discounting some of the S2 models now.

Wi-Fi and bluetooth, whether it's with the iPhone or a Wi-Fi network, or BT headphones, etc.

Apple dumped a bunch of S2 sport stock on the refurb store yesterday starting at about $240 for the 38mm. They were all gone within a half hour though.

Only at about a 15% discount though, Nike had about a 30% discount when they were dumping stock prior to launch. I'd expect to see similar discounts from different retailers in the coming weeks.

Just went to B&H and when you type apple watch into the search box it will bring up a page that shows all three models and you can click on each. When you click on series 2 and series 1 it will tell you the page is unavailable, but you can click on the series 3 and see all the options with the "notify me when available" button.

But when you just google Apple watch series 2 a link for B&H will pop up and you can click and it wil take you to the website. they have the 38mm for $289.99

All they are doing is selling the version that will be obsolete quicker by not selling S2 instead of S1

Hhhhmm...so what if my S2 encounters a problem that cant be fixed and a warranty replacement is offered. Do you get offered an S1 or an S3?

Probably the s3 wifi only edition since its basically the same thing with upgraded specs

You will be offered an S2. It's the same thing that happens when you have an older version iPhone. They still keep stock that they are using for repairs and replacements.

They look suspicious to me, perhaps one of those cut and run stores?

I agree. The company is located in Australia. I went on and ordered a 38mm series 2 from B&H, they currently have them marked down to 289.99

I actually couldnt find any confirmation in terms of the 70% improvement. I was trying to figure out whether it is truly a improvement ove the Series 2 processor or if they were comparing it to the Series 0. You know how apple likes to make the gains look larger than they are by comparing it to a couple generation old products.

Hopefully Best Buy dumps the S2 at half off like they did last year with the first gen watches. I'd gladly pick up a SS S2 (or Hermes?) at half off.

50% off makes the s2 aluminum around $170? thats a great price.
