CANCEL, IGNORE, getting my nano SIMs mixed up with my micro SIMs

I hadn't picked up on this before...is it right?.....not seen any discussion about getting different SIMs for the XS, XS Max and XR. Thought you could just switch it over.

From the Tech Specs comparison page:

The X also uses a nano-SIM, the difference is that the 2018 phones have an eSIM as well so it can support dual sims. You will be able to put the sim card from an X (or really any iPhone model from the 5 onward) into an XS, XS Max or XR and it will fit.

If you were still ballin' a 4 or 4S you might have this problem :p

Yea...it was the fact that Apple bothered to say anything at all about SIM compatibility that threw me....there can't be many people upgrading from iPhone 4. If it just said "uses standard nano SIM", I wouldn't have fallen in the trap. o_O

Apple has put that statement every year on the spec page since iPhone 5.

"iPhone n is not compatible with existing micro-SIM cards."

At this point, not many current phones on the market still use micro.

Can't a micro SIM actually be cut down to the size of a nano anyway, or am I crazy?

In any case, I remember having a micro SIM in my 3Gs and my carrier sent me a new nano SIM when I upgraded to a 5s. I've been using that nano SIM ever since.

Yes it can, and you can even buy a tool to do it, but seems to me the whole SIM management process has improved in recent years so the need isn't there anymore. Much easier to get a replacement nano and switch the number.
