I am so torn right now. I'm a huge Apple guy. Always have been. But I am seeing so much hate for the nMBP 15. Battery issues, graphics issues, poor QC, etc etc... Anyway, how much of this is valid? Is it worth buying one now?

BUY! :) (Unless you need 10 hours of battery life)
I have a 2.7/1tb/460. It lasts a strong 6.5 hours (With 1 hour of photoshop, music in background, some youtube 70% brightness and 50% volume) . It is the BEST laptop I've ever use. I came from a 2011 MacBook pro. The difference of course will be less significant if you come from a 2015. The issues people say, some graphic glitches (do happen to me like 1-2% of my time), I do have a small scratch on my mbp below the left speaker but i exchanged it and the new one doesn't have any issue. No compromises. All ports finally function. Some people don't need a HDMI port some people don't need a thunderbolt 2 port but now every port is just as useful as the other. I embrace USB C.
It's a fantastic device. You'll love it more if you come to macrumors less. Not everyone who is satisfied with their mbp would start a thread here, and people with problems are more likely to visit the forum and start a thread. That's why you're seeing more complaints than compliments.

Exactly.

OP> I have the new 13" model and I am perfectly happy with it. These are not bargain laptops by any means, but if you can afford it and it meets your requirements, go get one. The worst that can happen is you hate it and you take it back and get your money back during the 14 day return period and you have not lost a thing.

I'm a windows desktop guy, but when it comes to laptops, MacBooks are still the best (even if the gap continues to shrink), and this version is the best yet (IMO).

Same. Windows is great for a desktop workstation but macOS is a much better laptop OS because that's what Apple has concentrated on for 18 years.

Buy? But do you need new laptop?

Wait until Apple irons out the bugs.

Exactly. On a desktop, price, hardware, drivers, support, gaming; windows 10 is unmatched.

But on laptops, Apple just has it down.
Agreed.

Never again will I buy a Windows laptop. Apple nailed down laptops better than they did with mobile. OSX is a far superior and productive OS to use than iOS without forced updates to slow down Macs.

Wait to see if the issues get ironed out. Too many video card failures and bad battery life. For a premium price not worth the trouble.

I voted no within the context of the question listed in the title. If you can't decide to buy it, then don't. You'll either end up with huge buyer's remorse, and return it, or you'll go out of your way to come up with "positive" aspects of it (of which there do exist lots) to justify the expense and calm your nerves after spending so much on a laptop.

For me, given the number of little issues with it (sporadic claims of battery life, graphical glitches, touch bar glitchiness, to name a few,) it's a very poor value proposition at this time.

So I went ahead and bought one... I ended up buying a second... Enough said? No seriously, I love this thing!!! I do not understand why there is such hate for it. Both mine are flawless and beautiful and awesome to use. I am seeing probably around 6-7 hours of battery life. Love the touchpad. Love the screen. Love the keyboard. Don't know what else to say. If Apple is seriously aiming at 10 hours of battery life, maybe they can get there with some more tweaks to the OS. Oh,,, and no GUI glitches at all that I have seen. Assuming there are some legitimate bugs floating around out there, I hope these can be addressed with software and that we aren't going to see some kind of crazy mass recall...? Here's to hoping.

I'm enjoying mine as well. Haven't really had any issues like others have had. The battery life is pretty good, I'm getting ~7 hours surfing, youtube, movies, etc. I'm using gfxCardStatus and I haven't noticed it switching over to the dedicated graphics card like my 2013 rMBP does. So the integrated graphics card is doing a better job than my old MBP.

I'll be working with windows using VMWare Fusion later this week so I'll be able to test it a little more...

About 2% of the comments are valid, especially the "mine was scratched/damaged out of the box threads".. Go ahead and buy, I'd suggest Best Buy and finding a 10% off coupon, Ebay, etc..
