I wouldn't assume that the old iPhone's firmware would have the option for location based services without GPS.

You know what is funny. When I cracked my iPhone again, this is months ago, I used a little utility to change the carrier name to my name. Anyway, I restored back to stock because of some little wacky issues. The carrier name change never restored and it still said my name on restored 1.1.4 Now on 2.0 it still does not say AT&T but my name as the carrier, LOL. 2.0 is working great no problems here. This is really strange though that whatever preference this utility changed has stayed with my phone through a good 4 restores and now into 2.0 Oh well.
