So, what can one do with an old iPhone 3G after upgrading to the 4S? Does it basically become an iPod Touch? :apple:

I might give mine to my mother to use to play games on. I think she would like that.

Assuming you've had phones before the iPhone was ever even thought of, you could do the same with the old ones. Sell it, keep it incase one breaks, recycle it, give it away, etc. :)

Is it possible to use a 3G on verizon network? I could give to my parents to do that.

Nope. The 3g is a GSM phone. Verizon uses a different tech (CDMA) for their cell signals

Get the IR dongle and use it as a universal remote for the whole house! ;)

Keep it. It will be a cool artifact from the past someday and probably a collector's item. I still have an old Nokia phone from the mid-90's, it's amazing to see how far we've come in such a short time.

I'm giving it to my father in law to use as an iPod and sat nav.
