UI/UX designer and developer. Looking forward to a day of bug fixes, feature-adds, and issue writeup interrupted by Magic: The Gathering and pizza over lunch.

University of Michigan Graduate (April 2012) Aerospace Engineer. Unfortunately I am still unemployed. I put all my eggs in one basket (my wife's father claimed to have a guaranteed hook up) and that didn't work out. I am just studying for the GRE and getting ready to pick up any job to pay off student loans :(

Seriously?

Teach your students how to do basic derivatives. It may boost their self esteem to know how easy calculus can be. And it'll save them a lot of time with pre-calc ;)

This is a great suggestion and I've done it every year with my regular and college-prep Algebra I and Algebra II students. This year I have a very low-level Algebra II class... seniors who are repeating it, etc. I'm tempted to do this anyway just to boost confidence. Been teaching them linear programming and systems of equations this chapter and man, it has been like pulling teeth.

I work for a bank and work from home, so thankfully I can be as bitchy and unkempt as I want to be, and don't have to worry about taking off sick to be home to meet the FedEx or UPS guy on the 21st (though, oddly enough, I'd already requested off. Same thing happened last year, and both days were requested months before the announcement.)

Man, when I worked for MBNA in marketing, working from home was a pipedream. VPN was either NEVER given or only given to the top brass. It was suit and tie EVERY FREAKIN DAY.

So glad I switched to IT after that!

I have to give you props. I could never be a teacher. My 6th grade sister was asking me about a question on her homework and I was so impatient.
