My last iPhone I brought from Apple.com/uk. When it arrived I unlocked it etc and popped in my o2 PAYG sim and away I went..

So whats stopping me from ordering a new 3G iphone from apple.com/uk and doing the same when the nice iphone-dev-team are able to unlock the 2.0 firmware

Will I be able to use 3G network?? no biggies if I cannot. o2 are mean to be doing a original iphone bolt of for £10 which give unlimited Web and Wi-Fi iPhone Bolt On..

maybe cuz u cant buy it without activating a new plan and signing a new contract?

dunno if this is different in the uk

Nothing except you can't buy them online from Apple, and when you buy an iPhone in store you have to sign up to the contract before you get your hands on it. So, you could unlock it but you'd still have to pay your contract every month...

nope, its changed to stop people unlocking it

although you could buy a payg (whenever it is released) and then unlock it...
