Here in the UK we have had contactless (our name for NFC) cards for years. All the cards in my wallet (one debit, three credits of which I use two regularly) are NFC yet I don't remember the last time I actually used one of them (so when I said use I meant use their Apple Pay variants). I use Apple Pay *everywhere* even under these Covid-19 mask times. Not sure how it works in the US but we have a £45 ($60) limit on contactless here but in a lot of stores Apple Pay (and Google Pay) is either much higher or limitless. Will NFC kill Apple Pay? Nope, doesn't seem to be doing hereI got my first NFC enabled debit card last month and I’ve been using it recently and I find it way faster and easier just to wave my card over the terminal and ding!, instant processing and approval. But it’s not secure at all because you don’t have to unlock it. anyone with your card could just wave it over a terminal. But I like it so far. With Apple Pay you have to unlock your phone using face ID and in today’s times the NFC enabled cards are just the better option. Not one retailer has asked to see my I.d. I see this killing Apple Pay at least when it comes to in person transactions in public. What do you guys think?
