So when the SDK is released

    Is it going to be possible for someone to make a chat program and distribute it without downloading it from Apple? That gives apple the ability to decline it...

    I hope they make it open!!!

    its expected that apps will be sold through itunes, although no one knows specifically until the SDK is released

    anyway, chat apps are already available for jailbroken phones

    Right, but id like to not have to jailbreak my phone for a chat option. I already do it, and frankly.. the options suck!

    You're assuming that the official one won't suck.

    im pretty sure that they will allow developers who use the sdk to develop apps for the iphone to give there apps away thrue itunes as either freeware, shareware, or for purchase. so apps that you use on ur jailbroken iphone right now will probably be free when the sdk comes out to. :)
