Yeah, I also find this pretty annoying. There are a few apps now that have been updated fully for iOS 8 and the new iPhones (I'm looking at you as an example, Instapaper) but the majority of big apps haven't been touched. It's hard to believe something like WhatsApp (a company Facebook bought for $19bn) is such a mess. It looks really bad on the new iPhones and the iCloud doesn't even work on iOS 8. Sure, developers only had a week between the keynote and the iPhones being shipped to update their apps to support the displays but they've had months to update for iOS 8. I rarely use Facebook these days so don't have it on my iPhone but I'm guessing that it's not been updated either, right? Instagram, too.

the whatsapp team has always been slow. i think it took them 6 months or so to finally include the iOS 7 keyboard and status bar style

Yep it is very slow.

I was hoping the major applications would have been updated within a week of IOS8 being released.

People use that app? After all the poor reviews with being intrusive with your personal info.....
The vast majority of poor reviews are simply due to people being upset at FB for making Messenger a separate app and not allowing them to just keep it as part of the FB app.

What intrusions are there beyond anything that FB already normally has even without that app (for those who use FB)?

Most have given it a 1 star out of spite. It's not a bad app, but its stupid they require you to use it instead of giving you a choice.

Yeah a complex app like Facebook should be quick to update and test and release in a week, rite?

Evernote has been optimized for the new resolutions since launch day, so they sure sisn't have an issue with only a week of development time from announcement to launch. Facebook is a multi billion dollar company with a massive amoubt of resources. They've already released one update, which who's knows what the **** did, and still no relatively simple resolution optimizations. Almost 3 weeks now, should be plenty of time. Again though, Facebook has always been a lazy and underdeveloped app that doesn't or took a very long time to utilize many features. I mean last I tried you couldn't even take and post a picture from within the app.

If other developers like Evernote can have full support for the new iPhones from day 1, a multi-billion dollar company with a massive amount of resources shouldn't take almost 2 weeks now to, at the very least, optimize for new resolutions. Even the OkCupid app is optimized for the new resolutions.
Evernote was optimized for the new iPhones before they were even officially sold? It doesn't even mention that in their version notes.

Knowing about the sizes and using actual devices to develop and test on are different things.

As for larger companies, it's actially almost a given that be larger the company and the more people that might be involved in a project the harder it is to change something quicker or to speed something up and go outside the established process.

I don't know, but it looks great on my 6+. FB on the other hand...yuck. The Youtube app needs work as well since the icons go up in the notifications bar.

Yes, because it's native, not an inefficient HTML5 app like FB app and all Google apps. They should distribute them through Crap Store.

I honestly feel the last 3-4 updates (if not more) from Facebook where they don't disclose what the updates bring, are just a way to remove or reset the amount of terrible reviews they keep getting.

Appalling company.

Most all of the apps with work wonderful by Sept of next year. Just in time for the next round of new OS. All joking aside doesn't it almost always take a good month or so before things get to working as they should or as you would hope?

Well Apple themselves are still working on iOS 8 apparently. :confused:3 major updates in the works supposedly.

Apple Store came today.
If it takes Apple this many days. Don't expect 3rd parties for a good while longer.

I've noticed they don't even have a changelist for the app anymore, just some generic "we update our app because we love you" BS copypasta.
