Indeed they are. They also help with the reception issue somewhat since it covers most of the steel band

Plastic clear AirJacket from eBay. Fits pretty good and protects the edges. I'm waiting for another clear plastic cover from HK. Got it for .99 shipped. If it fits nicely like the AirJacket, I'll buy like 10 of them. Should last the life of the phone.

Green bumper for me, I also have a black one. I have a cheapie gel case that covers the back and sides and I am on the lookout for a good case. I may just stick with the bumper though, I'd like to score a white and orange bumper as well.

I love my green bumper, It makes my phone look unique in a way. And solves the signal issue. So far so good, Love my i4!

I'm using a TPU case from Best Buy. Pretty happy with it so far.

Using a Denim case given out for free while standing in line at my local Apple Store awaiting launch of the 4. It's actually pretty nice. Protects my phone from scratches and I would think a 3 foot drop. I dropped it on purpose onto my carpet and it survived.

I won't try that on hardwood or cement, though, cuz I'm not an ass.

It also came with a screen protector, squeegee, and a shammy.

There's no way in hell I'm paying the company that made a faulty phone for a case that makes it not faulty so I bought a Body Glove from AT&T. Knowing Apple, there's probably a problem with their "bumper" that causes it to scratch the phone or something. Always something with Apple.
