Who will be the first to report in? iTunes 10 is released today and I'm wondering how it integrates with a Jailbroken iOS4 device. I know, someone will reply "wait for the dev team" ... but I know someone is already downloading it... so please ruin the surprise and tell us what the result is :)

I'll be part of the "wait and see" crowd.

But just give it time. If there are people that "ACCIDENTALLY UPGRADED TO 4.1 AM I SCROOED?" I'm almost positive within the next...5 minutes somebody will report back with an answer.

Yeah last time I did the update it was from 9.2 to 9.2.1 so I figured nothing major and took the chance, but going from iTunes 9.x to iTunes 10.x I'd bet there's some considerable changes, and since they openly announced 4.1 next week coming out followed end of year with 4.2 you know Dev Team is going wait and not waste an exploit, & hold off on releasing the next jailbreak until 4.2 since it's the release to unify iPad, iPod, iPhone...

I didn't see where 4.2 is for iPhone, just iPad (I could be wrong of course) so my guess is the DevTeam will JB 4.1 if that's possible. Just my guess based on past practices, one never really knows !

They didn't talk about it when talking about iPhone, but then when they talked about iPad and iOS 4.2 they said "Available for All iOS Devices in November" with the *saying certain models only haha... but yeah iPhone was in there.

Hope they keep throwing in new features to keep up with Android's fast pace of updates and new features... :)

What's the normal wait time for new firmware to be Jb?

Yep...I can confirm that. Originally Jobs stated 4.2 for the iPad and then later on a slide appeared showing 4.2 for iTouch, iPhone, and iPad.

if it's worth jailbreaking thendev-team will jailbreak they also always report on Itunes software and all firmware so no need for anybody to risk it. unless they don't mind losing there jailbreak until the dev-team releases a new one. which might or might not be online again. being we are talking Nov seems a little early for this. then again I often several months behind the latest firmware releases any way.

A little early? Happy September... November is 8 weeks away and Christmas is 150 days from today. It's holiday time again, baby! :)

My jailbreak was just murdered, looks like we'll have to wait a while.

Ohhhhh shyte... a iTunes upgrade un-jailbroke you? Or you just can't sync with iTunes anymore? Big difference. If they're restoring jailbroken phones now that's a big shift to offense for Apple.... eeek

And I'm going to be a guinea pig for iTunes 10. I have had issues with iTunes 9.2.1 now for weeks. I have been unable to restore on iTunes as the restore goes to about 60% and will not proceed any further. I've worked with Apple support on this and together we have been unable to find an answer so maybe iTunes 10 will solve my issue.

Note...I have tried restoring on my Macbook Pro literally dozens of times with the same results. I have completely removed iTune 9.2.1 and all its files and reinstalled and still have the same issue. I've tried logging in as a different user and still the same problem. But no problem restoring with other computers? So maybe iTunes 10 will be the answer.

Murdered sounds like a lot more than not being able to sync...

iTunes 10 isn't available yet. he must've upgraded iOS.

That's true... I guess if you cut someones head off murdering them they're a bit out of sync... but on the flipside, if you murder them they definitely stop working... ugh I need to go to bed.

You're not running WiFI Sync by chance are you ? I know that craps out restores in iTunes.

Since rule of thumb has always been 'do not upgrade anything until Dev-Team approves', I will be on 'Stand By' until an update from them is issued.

I remember I used to have to reinstall itunes whenever I would update because it would always end up hanging at the same spot.

I eventually found out it was WiFi Sync.

I am going to sit tight and wait. I love my JB too much to risk it for a ping feature that I'll never use. plus I've also gotten quite used to wi-fi sync so I dont want to lose that either.
