Been thinking hard about the mini, the Dell screen really looked great on it?
I heard the Video card was awfully weak on the mini, how does it look playing DVD's? (Sounds like a poor man's heaven, really good?) The Dell cost 157,500 Yen here, but the Apple is over 200,000 Yen and it has a Pink cast on everyone of the Apples I've seen.
At my work they have about 50 23" Widescreen Philips LCD's which I personally think look quite good. The picture quality is excellent too. I don't really know about further specs but I do know that they tested a number of screens (amongst which the Dell equivilant, Dell incidentally also supplies all our PCs) and this is the one they chose. Its called the Philips 230W I believe. It retails for something like 2000 euros, which isn't a bad price compared to Apple's 23".
2000 Euros? The Dell goes for under 900 Euros - so I think that's a much better deal for the money - the Dell also has better contrast and brightness. Are you sure they were comparing that to the 2405? It just came out.
The philips does have built in speakers and a lan connection system.

Hmmmm the first screens started coming in in november/december 2004 I think. Could've been before the launch of the Dell 24inch. The price of the dell is 1248 euros btw. The one in the 800 euro price range is the 20 inch, which looks really ugly. Actually the philips is pretty ugly too 🙄
