I admittedly haven't read any of the developer info on this but will XBMC be allowed natively? need to have access to smb or ftp shares too. Stuck on the ol ATV2 for the time being.

I'm sure xbmc violates many terms of the AppStore agreement so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Plex is gonna be their, but I doubt they will allow any good pirate streaming apps like xbmc/popcorn time/showbox etc on there

Oh, I'd love it if they did! This is why I have to buy Google/Amazon TV devices. Kodi/XBMC could never live in the land of Apple. I'll still buy the new apple tv just because of the App Store though.

XBMC renders itunes useless. Never gonna happen, if it does I would buy one.

Why would it? I, like a majority of the population, have no interests is pirating or ripping DVDs. You are speaking for a tiny segment of the market.

We'll see if the approval process is different but I would wager that if it's allowed on iOS it has a good chance of being tvOS. Is xbmc on iOS? I know Plex is and am optimistic that they will be on tvOS soon.

If Plex is on it, I will buy. Wish it were 4K, but I'm going to wait until an official and functional Plex app is there before pulling the trigger.

XBMC is so much more than just a piece of software to use for pirating. XBMC/Kodi is the best media player out there imo.

I couldn't imagine why I would want Kodi or Plex on an ATV. This is especially true when there are superior players like NVidia Shield TV for 200-300 bucks that do far more. The only thing the latter doesn't do is get caught in the iTunes Store web.

ATV is a brilliant front end for iTunes Store and now what will be the apps store offering.

Choice is good. It would be nice to have access to all the content on kodi.

playing 4k movie on Kodi/Nvidia Shield using 1Gb ethernet is smooth but stuttering on AC wifi.

Kodi is officially on Google Play store (not Amazon). but I doubt apple would approve it. though I love to have it on ATV 4.

Stuttering...one easy fix though expensive is to use two AC routers in bridge mode. Connect source to AC router 1 via cable and then do the same with the other router and the NVidia Shield TV via cable. Let the routers do the heavy lifting.
Incidentally, this also works for other types of challenges with media (including using Apple's routers in the same fashion).
Also, you might try AV2 rated Powerline with the notion you could return the purchase if your in wall electrical is challenged.

As for ATV with XBMC/Kodi... that would be so cool yet so contrary to Apple's motto of they know what is best for us (grin).
