The details are scant. Does it have a Blu-Ray Player app similar to DVD Player app? I could not tell from unit's web page. How does it deal with Macs that lack HDCP-compliant video cards? How does it output to an HDTV? DVI doesn't support HDCP, so it'd have to go through DisplayPort only. Need more details on this before such a pronouncement.

Tempting to try this...anyone here have one that they can offer opinions on? Doubt I'd use this as a replacement for a full Blu-Ray player though.

Is this the page you're referring to?

If so, there's little info on it, and seems that they didn't prepare a full product page before the announcement. 🙁

Yes, that's the page I saw, and this is what worries me:

What's in the Box

  • Blu-ray Super Multi Drive
  • USB cable
  • User's Guide CD-Rom

A User's Guide CD-Rom, but no mention of Mac software for BD video playback on the Mac. I'd like to see a picture of the back of the unit, too.

Announce a product, don't give enough details, releases months after it was scheduled, and then it won't perform as originally stated. Grr...😡 😛

This type of product release is getting far too common for my taste. 😱 🙄

😎 I want one!

.....as long as it will play Blu-ray using my Core 2 Duo Mac mini over a DVI-HDMI cable to teh LCD TV.

any chance that there will be a program soon that will rip blu-ray in hd and store in the hard drive for play back?

Whatever happened to this product?

Any place you can buy or pre-order the Amex blu-ray drive?

This would go perfectly with a MBA instead of the Apple Superdrive!
