SOCKS Server in Xcode

Hi,
I've been reading about cocoa and objective c for the last two months and programming in java for a year now. I am really enjoying learning objective c so i want to make a little socks server, can you guys just point me some directions?
I found some C code but i think it would be more interesting doing it myself than trying to port some code, is there any frameworks that i can use?
